Aditi Chinta and Samaira Mehta In 2000, Pleasanton devised a climate action plan to help reduce our impact on the environment. Twenty years later, our City Council is revisiting that plan to make it more efficient and equip us with a better plan to tackle climate change. The first meeting, on October 7th, was focused on looking back on the original plan, and deciding where revisions were needed. The city’s main goals involve reducing GHG emissions, increasing holistic sustainability in Pleasanton, investing in climate resilience, collaborating with efforts and priorities across the city government, and positioning the city as a sustainability leader.
Another focus was streamlining the guiding principles to make sure that the three principles chosen out of five were the most impactful ones. The five that they were deciding from are as follows:

Regardless of what our new climate action plan ends up being, rest assured, all the finalized changes will be for the benefit of our future.

The journalism small group is so productive, and it actually feels like you are doing something. You have so many opportunities to collaborate with people you probably would not have met otherwise. I have made so many friends in this small group, and club meetings are always entertaining.
